In the most recent PNP draws, candidates for provincial nominations are invited to Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba. Find out how to obtain a route to permanent residence in Canada.
Recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws in three Canadian provinces—Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba—have sent out invites. These invitations are a part of a larger program in which the provinces and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) take turns administering immigration. Although Quebec has its own immigration policy, PNPs are implemented in all other Canadian provinces and territory.
A set number of nominations are sent to each province, and these are then divided between candidates for economic immigration in accordance with the demographic and labor requirements of each province. For example, the most populated province in Canada, Ontario, usually gets the most nominees.
The Immigration Levels Plan for 2024–2026 in Canada states that the Immigration and Refugee Council of Canada (IRCC) intends to accept 110,000 new PNP members this year. It’s crucial to realize, though, that getting a nomination from a province government does not equate to getting an invitation from the IRCC to submit an application for permanent residence. These are two different procedures that call for different applications.
Results of Provincial Immigration (August 24–30)
The Ontario
1,287 candidates for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) Express Entry Skilled Trades stream received letters of interest from Ontario on August 22. Candidates had to meet specified requirements in order to be considered, including having work experience in a targeted occupation with a specific National Occupation Classification (NOC) code and having a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 400 and 435.
British Columbia
On August 27, British Columbia opened up applications for provincial nomination to more than 158 individuals via the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). Candidates for International Graduate Programs and Skilled Worker programs, including those in the BC Express Entry stream, were invited. The province held five targeted draws with different minimum scores for particular occupations:
- 40 candidates in childcare occupations (minimum score: 83)
- 31 candidates in construction occupations (minimum score: 88)
- 18 candidates in healthcare occupations (minimum score: 99)
- 69 candidates in tech occupations (minimum score: 118)
- Fewer than five candidates in veterinary care occupations (minimum score: 80)
Manitoba
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 150 candidates from two PNP streams to a draw that was held on August 30. Included in the draw were:
- 126 candidates from the International Education Stream (no minimum score reported)
- 24 candidates from the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative (minimum score: 727)
Of all the invites that Manitoba sent out, twenty-one were sent to applicants who had a current Express Entry profile.
These province draws demonstrate the continuous chances available to graduates and talented professionals seeking to use the PNP system to obtain a path to permanent residency in Canada.
