Breaking: BC & Manitoba Immigration Draws, Plus Alberta’s Latest Stream Updates

Discover the most recent immigration trends in BC and Manitoba as well as Alberta’s most recent processing updates on tech, healthcare, and other high-demand industries.

Significant activity has been taking place in Canadian provinces’ immigration programs during the past week. While the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) offered up-to-date information on processing timeframes and quotas, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted immigration draws. Program for British Columbia Provincial Nominees (BCPNP)

Two immigration draws were held in British Columbia on October 2nd, with different applicant streams being targeted.

1 )First Draw

1.Candidates  invited: 81
2.Streams and Cut-Off Scores:

Skilled Worker: 128
International Graduate: 128
Entry Level & Semi-Skilled: 110

2 ) Draw for In-Demand Sector

Candidates with prioritized industry experience in British Columbia were asked to apply for the second draw.

Program for Manitoba Provincial Nominees (MPNP)
Under the MPNP, Manitoba held two distinct draws on September 27 and extended invitations to participants in important streams.

1. The Stream of International Education

  • Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs): 269

2. The Skilled Laborer Abroad Program

  • LAAs Issued: 79 (under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative)
  • Minimum Score Required: 582

348 applicants in total from both streams received invitations; 56 of them had a current Express Entry profile and a job seeker validation code.

Processing Updates for the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)
A thorough report on current processing times, quota status, and details on different immigration streams was given by the AAIP. Particular routes for Express Entry applicants and industries including technology, healthcare, and rural revitalization are part of Alberta’s program.

  • Pending Applications: 4,440

Key Stream Updates:

  1. Alberta Express Entry Stream
    • Accelerated Tech Pathway: Processing applications received on or before March 18, 2024
    • Dedicated Healthcare Pathway: Processing as of September 9, 2024
    • Law Enforcement Pathway: Applications dated September 9, 2024, or earlier
    • Priority Sector Draws: All applications currently in process
    • Family Connection & In-Demand Occupations: All applications currently in process
  2. Alberta Opportunity Stream
    • Processing applications received on or before January 11, 2024, with permits expiring in 2025 or later.
  3. Dedicated Healthcare Pathway
    • Processing as of September 9, 2024.
  4. Entrepreneur Streams
    • Applications evaluated upon receipt.
  5. Rural Renewal Stream
    • Processing applications dated March 6, 2024, or earlier.
  6. Tourism and Hospitality Stream
    • All applications have been processed.

Applications under a Temporary Public Policy intended to facilitate work permit extensions are being considered by AAIP for individuals whose work permits expire in 2024.
