On August 1st, the Tasmanian Skilled Migration Program 2024–25 will launch, with new occupational groupings, updated eligibility, updated income thresholds, and improved policy guidance.

Entire Synopsis
1. Program Opening: On August 1, 2024, at 12 p.m., Registrations of Interest for the 2024–25 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will be accepted. Updated eligibility requirements, policy guidelines, and service costs are aspects of this year’s program.

2. Features of the Program: To better fulfill Tasmania’s labor market demands, the 2024–25 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program enhances and modifies a number of existing components. Important characteristics consist of:

– Adjustments for Priority Attributes:

         > Decrease in Green traits: Previously the most important attribute, there has been a decrease in green traits.

         > The “Orange-Plus” Category is introduced: There is now a new attribute category called “orange-plus.” Candidates who meet these requirements will be given preference in this new                 category and will be invited to submit an application for nomination within six months.
– Acceptable Careers:

        > Broad Eligibility: Through at least one program pathway, all jobs included in the Australian Government’s subclass 190 and 491 lists are still eligible for nomination.

– Extended List of Occupations:

        > New employment Groups: For the subclass 190 Tasmanian Skilled Employment route, 18 new employment groups totaling 78 distinct jobs have been added to the Tasmanian Onshore             Skilled Occupation List (TOSOL). After working for six months, candidates who have a suitable skills evaluation and directly related employment might be nominated for a permanent                   visa.

Changes to the Income Threshold:

       >Updated Requirements: The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) and the most recent revisions to Australian median and average earnings serve as the basis for modifications to the income thresholds in the minimum eligibility requirements and priority qualities.

– Revised List of Critical Roles:

       >New professions Added: Invitations to apply for nomination are now given priority based on employment in highly skilled professions, according to an updated list of key roles.

– An increase in service fees:

      >New Fee Structure: $360 (plus $36 GST) is now the service charge for nomination applications. The submission of a Registration of Interest is free of charge.

3. Adjustments to Priority Attributes:

      >Reduction of Green Attributes: The Tasmanian Skilled Employment, Skilled Graduate, Established Resident, and Business Owner routes now have less green attributes. A few green                   characteristics have been moved to the newly created “orange-plus” category.
      >Timelines for Invitations: Within eight weeks of obtaining green qualities, candidates will be invited to submit an application for nomination. Individuals who possess at least one orange-          plus attribute will be given top priority and will probably get an invitation in the next six months. During this program year, all individuals who possess at least one orange-plus attribute              will be invited to submit an application for nomination.
     >Work Requirements: In order to claim orange-plus qualities, employment must be skilled (ANZSCO Skill Levels 1-3).
