ACS Expands Assessment Scope: New Occupations Added for 2025

Learn about the ten new IT jobs that ACS has added, including cyber security positions. Find out about the 2025 evaluations’ important dates and revised paths.

With a projected need of 1.3 million specialists by 2030, Australia’s demand for highly qualified technology workers is only expected to increase. The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has greatly broadened the scope of its assessments in accordance with this goal, taking into account revisions from the Department of Home Affairs’ Core Skills Occupations List (CSOL) and Skills in Demand visa.

Getting Ready for New Routes

ACS is actively modernizing its systems and procedures to assist applicants and agents as these changes go into effect in December. Important updates consist of:

Go-Live Date: On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the website and assessment portal improvements are scheduled to go live.

Assessment Pathways: Candidates may continue to use the Post-Australian Studies (PAS), General Skills, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathways.

Optional Certifications: In certain specialized domains, optional vendor certifications (such as in DevOps or cyber security) will be taken into consideration in order to improve evaluations.

Updates on the Holiday Schedule and Processing

On Friday, December 20, 2024, at noon AEDT, ACS offices will close. They will reopen on Monday, January 6, 2025. In the upcoming year, applicants may expect longer processing times—possibly up to four weeks longer.
