Important Information Regarding the New Skills in Demand (SID) Visa

For 23 occupations that need skills evaluations under the new Skills in Demand Visa (Core Skills stream), Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) remains the designated evaluating body. Candidates must apply through the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) skills assessment program in order to have their skills evaluated for occupations for which TRA is the designated authority.

Crucial Information for Candidates:

TSS Applications Starting on December 7, 2024: Applications for the Skills in Demand visa will also be evaluated for TSS skills assessments received after this date.

Pre-7 December Applications: To find out if a TSS skills assessment is still required if you applied for one before this date and are awaiting results, contact the Department of Home Affairs.

Program for Job Ready: Revised Processing Times

An outline of the Job Ready initiative

The goal of the Job Ready Program (JRP) is to guarantee that participants obtain a minimum of 12 months of full-time (or comparable part-time) work experience. Three years are allotted for finishing the program.

Average Processing Durations:

1. Registration for the Program
After submitting online, a confirmation of registration is sent within 30 days.

2. Eligibility for Workplace Assessment
Within six months of submitting a JRP application, eligibility judgements for workplace assessments are made.

3. Application for Workplace Assessment

Within six weeks after completing their application, candidates will get confirmation that they have been referred to a Registered Training Organization (RTO).

Within two weeks following the recommendation, the RTO will set up the workplace assessment.

Before the appointment, get in touch with the RTO directly to reschedule.

4. Results of the Workplace Assessment
Nine weeks following the assessment date, TRA will notify the participants of the Workplace Assessment’s findings.

5. Last Evaluation
Following fulfilment of all participation conditions, invitations to the Job Ready Final Assessment are sent out.

6. Processing Documents
Requests for more information will be handled within 14 days of being received.
